Our door stop is a little porker. This Flying Pig Door Stop ‘oink’ going anywhere in the sky, but will keep your door open no problem.
This pig won’t fly. In fact quite the opposite. It’s designed to stay with its four feet firmly fixed to the ground – so it appropriately is covered in jumbo cord. It’s heavy enough to hold back a door and prevent it from slamming shut.
3-uses-in-1. It’s a door stop, a soft ornament and a cuddly toy. Cute, adorable, irresistible is has appealing beady black eyes, floppy ears, blue wings and is hand-stitched in corduroy fabric.
Poking fun with a pig. Pigs might fly is a figure of speech – officially called an ‘adynation’ as it will never occur. We use it to scoff at over-ambition. This piggy is very much down to earth, despite its wings, as it is heavily laden down.
Flying pigs pop up everywhere. They’re used in popular culture and even pop up in Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland. And the idea of pigs with wings turns up in ‘The Walrus and the Carpenter’ poem – and famously Pink Floyd’s Animals album has a ‘Pigs on the wing’ song and they released a giant flying pig over Battersea Power Station on the cover.
